You should select Corner valves when your central heating pipework comes horizontally out of the wall and needs to connect to the side tappings of your radiator. Corner valves keep the valve heads pointing neatly inward parallel to the wall, rather than sticking out into the room (which would happen if you used angled valves on wall pipework).
A TRV allows you to control the exact temperature of an individual room. It senses the air temperature around it and automatically adjusts the flow of hot water into the radiator. When the room reaches your desired setting (1 through 6), the valve closes, saving you money and energy.
The lockshield is the secondary valve included in this twin pack. It sits on the opposite side of the radiator to the TRV. It is used by your plumber to "balance" the heating system, ensuring that water is distributed evenly so all radiators in your house heat up at the same speed. Once set during installation, you rarely need to touch it.
These valves feature standard 15mm compression fittings for the pipework and 1/2" BSPT connections for the radiator. This is the standard UK size and will fit the vast majority of domestic central heating setups and modern designer radiators.
